I saw an eagle flying overhead, and I heard it say in a loud voice, "Catastrophe, catastrophe, catastrophe for those living on earth, because of the remaining trumpet blasts which the three angels are about to blow." - Rev 8:13

THE TRUMPETS ...

EARTH’S KILLING FIELDS

The events that occur during the time of the Trumpets cannot be exaggerated!  No matter how bad you might think it will be - it will be worse…

       …Far worse.

Ecological disasters - - navies sunk - - uncontrolled wildfires - - smashed roads, bridges and dams - - cities destroyed - - millions of human lives destroyed - - governments collapsed - - worldwide food shortages…

…And that is just the beginning!

PAY ATTENTION!

While the our senses are overwhelmed at this picture of a shattered earth - while we are reeling with the implications of worldwide disaster - while we are thinking that the greatest possible catastrophes have just happened - God sends a warning.

“Catastrophe, catastrophe, catastrophe for those living on the earth - because of the remaining Trumpet blasts...”

WHAT???

“Listen! “, God is saying, “No matter how bad you think those first four trumpets are, I’M TELLING YOU, they’re nothing compared to the last three!”

Sure, ecological disasters are awful.  But God is not issuing an idle warning here!  An onrushing evil force is about to storm humanity - and humanity must be warned!

Layer upon layer, the story unfolds…

With quick purposeful brush strokes God paints the picture of the devastation of Earth’s ecosystem as the Wrath of God begins to be poured out.  Under the first four Trumpets,Earth suffers multiple strikes from meteors and from a comet as well!  But as bad as that is, the terror that follows is even worse.

The Fifth and Sixth Trumpets show the world as it is overrun by evil, as Satan is allowed to open the door that separates his realm from ours!  Satan and his army of demons will be allowed to work directly in man’s presence - and man will find that he is no match for this fallen angel of light!   We are told that in the period of the Sixth Trumpet, one third of mankind will be killed!

But upon unrepentant humanity - those who side with Satan and his kingdom - one more grand catastrophe falls.  At the sounding of the Seventh Trumpet, Jesus is crowned Lord of Lords and King of Kings in heaven - laying aside forever his priestly roles and duties.  Mankind’s probation is forever closed.  His eternal destiny is sealed.

Satan’s forces are not the only ones released.  God enters the field of battle in the persons of the 144,000 servants that were chosen and sealed during the time of the Seals.  The two great compelling witnesses - the Word of God, and the convicting power of the Holy Spirit - will be taken to every corner of the world through the men and women chosen as God’s messengers.  As with the Early Church, great signs and miracles will attend them.  Revelation describes their ministry as a parallel to that of Jesus - 3-½ years - great miracles - followed by death - and resurrection.

Whatever we may ultimately learn from that passage, these witnesses bear the mark and imprint of their Lord, Jesus Christ.  And like Him, they will appear to suffer defeat at the end of their ministry.

Satan’s final offensive against God and mankind is not a solo undertaking.  In his effort to supplant God on earth, the Dragon arrives as part of a “trinity”, along with the Sea Beast and the Land Beast.  The Dragon gives his power and authority to the Sea Beast, who received a deadly wound but was healed.  The Sea Beast becomes the focal point of worship, and is supported by the great miracles that the Land Beast (the False Prophet) is able to do.  The Land Beast convicts the world of their need to worship the Sea Beast.

Who is the Dragon?  According to Revelation, he is the Devil himself.

The Sea Beast?  A world-spanning authority comprised of all of the remaining political systems, and all of the world’s great religious systems.  Just as the Tower of Babel was an attempt by man after the flood to work together to establish a system to save mankind, so this modern Babylon will be seen as man’s only hope following the disasters that have befallen the world.

And the Land Beast?  None other than a counterfeit of the 144,000 bond servants of God!

God’s last warnings and appeals to humanity are clear and pointed.  As the earth, seas and trees are being impacted, God’s servants implore man to worship the Creator God, who made all these things.

As Babylon takes its place, God’s servants warn that Babylon is fallen, and is the haunt of demons.

As the False Prophet impels men - under penalty of death - to worship the Sea Beast, and to  make an Image to the Beast, the servants warn that to do so will place men under the condemnation and wrath of God.

All humanity will have to decide their fate during this pressing time, but none will have to decide without the issues presented clearly to him.

Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. - Rev 14:12
